12 things in January
January was such a blessing month, met my friends and families, read good books, watched great dramas, got my booster shot, and finally a married Mimi. Though at some point, it felt like there was another month within January. Nonetheless, I am super grateful for all!
- Finally got my booster shot. It was a last-minute appointment, thankfully, I was available that day, so I went to the PPV nearby and got the job done. As for the side effects, I just had a sore arm and was fatigued and achy, slightly uncomfortable, but pretty manageable.
- What I read | One of my personal goals for 2022 is to read more than the previous year. I started my year with a very solid reading month for me, ended up finishing ten books in total, found my new favorite writer, and most of the books I read are a four or five rating. Now, I’m excited to pick up more books and keep the momentum going till the end of the year.
-Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder
-Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
-How to Stay Sane in an Age of Division by Elif Shafak
-The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams
-Know My Name by Chanel Miller
-Educated by Tara Westover
-Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
-Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig
-I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
-Before the coffee gets cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi - I’ve been trying a bunch of coffee instant now that my coffee machine is broken. Picked up the Starbucks brand; it was decent but wasn’t great either. Does anyone have any good instant coffee recommendations? As of now, none of them are giving me that coffee shop coffee boost in the morning.
- What I watched
-Happiness - I watched this drama last month, but since I didn’t post 12 things in December, and this drama is too good to miss, I just include this here. Seriously, Han Hyo Joo never disappoints!
-The Red Sleeve - This drama has been such an emotional roller coaster for me. Started as cute, funny & romantic, then suddenly ended with a heartbreaking ending. I couldn’t bear to watch the last episode because it was so painful. - I’ve been listening to a lot of Buzz’s songs lately, and I can’t get enough of them. I wonder why there aren’t many of their songs available on Spotify.
- Mimi is finally married. It was a last-minute announcement, so Afifah and I booked the flight tickets right away to Johor to attend her ceremony. To finally had the chance to see Mimi happy in her wedding dress was really worth the one-day trip.
- The next day when I got my third jab, I met with Fify over brunch and had a pleasant catch-up. We went to a Korean cafĂ©, ordered a lot of food which we both couldn’t finish, and spent our time sitting in the mall instead of roaming around and shopping.
- January was my third month of tracking my fitness properly since I purchased my Apple watch and had my best achievements and the most consistent month out of all three months. I closed my rings almost every day and at least 5 times a week. I had a hard time achieving my daily goal in December, so I lowered my goals last month and focused on becoming more consistent, and it went well.
- I bought some pampas grass for my room, and they’re so cute in front of my beauty mirror. They’re larger and cheaper than what I bought before, and I have no regrets!
- I read ten books last month, and as I said, most of the books are a four and five rating, but Reason to stay alive stands out the most. It is about the writer’s battle with depression. I can relate to every word of Matt Haig and made a separate book review here.
- I’ve been having trouble with sleeping and my sleeping schedule these days, and even though I can sleep, it is hard to get deep sleep, so I developed new habits yesterday (which was in January); to stay away from my bed during the day and to avoid caffeine after 2 p.m.
- My cousin came and made a surprise visit last weekend. It was totally unexpected, but we had a great time. She stayed overnight, and we spent all night talking and laughing.
How was your January?
